Aquatic Centre Reopens with a Big Splash

CRALC will reopen this Saturday, 2 March with a new look and a new name as the Burpengary Regional Aquatic and Leisure Centre (or BRALC) after a $5.4 million refurbishment which saw the centre receive a new internal ceiling, hydraulics, lighting, air ventilation and fire systems.

A new paint job, retiling and regrouting of the pools, new doors and windows were also included as part of the multi-million-dollar project to revamp the centre which receives more than 200,000 visitations every year.In-ground services including sewer and pool water reticulation have also been upgraded.

To celebrate, Moreton Bay Regional Council and the centre’s new manager, Belgravia Leisure, are throwing open the doors for a family fun day on Saturday, 23 March 2019.

Dubbed the Burpengary Big Splash, there will be stacks of supervised activities for the kids including three giant inflatables — a slip-n-slide, jumping castle and super slide.

And if that’s not enough to keep the kids busy, there will also be an inflatable soccer field and inflatable pool toys.

Parents can kick back on a pink flamingo and relax while their little ones compete in ice-cream eating competitions and more main-stream sports like tennis, AFL and football.

Entry to the Burpengary Big Splash is a gold coin donation which will go towards The Smith Family. Gates open for the Burpengary Big Splash at 9am on Saturday, 23 March 2019.

Councillor for Division 2 Peter Flannery said the event would celebrate the aquatic centre’s new lease on life.

“Save the date for the Burpengary Big Splash and make the most of the opportunity to get to know your new and improved aquatic centre,” Cr Flannery said.

Mayor Allan Sutherland said BRALC would become part of Moreton Bay Regional Council’s master-planned Moreton Bay Central Sports Complex.

“We are creating a world-class hub for sport right here in Moreton Bay which will drive economic growth for the region and encourage more participation in sport,” Mayor Sutherland said.

Belgravia Leisure Queensland State Manager Dan Cullen said the team was honoured to be managing BRALC on behalf of the council.

“We have many exciting plans for the facility, including an upgrade to the gym equipment and layout and the introduction of our national Learn to Swim program Go Swim, which is powered by Swimming Australia,” Mr Cullen said.
