Chris Whiting’s Boating Forum is back for another year, and this time Mark Ryan MP, Member for Morayfield and Shane King MP, Member for Kurwongbah are coming on board!
On Saturday 22 June 2019, from 11am to 1pm, come along to hear about boating safety, local marine facilities, pollution reduction in our waterways, and much more. There will also be a lucky door prize to be won!
The forum will be held at the Caboolture River Fishing and Boating Club at 514 Uhlmann Road Burpengary East and is expected to bring in lots of keen anglers and recreational boaties.
Representatives from Maritime Safety Queensland, National Marine Parks, Brisbane Water Police, Department of Transport and Main Roads, Boating and Fisheries Patrol and Boating Infrastructure will all be in attendance.
Last year, The Brisbane Water Police and the Deception Bay SES bought along their speed boats, which was a huge hit with the kids!
The community will be able to discuss any issues they might have on new regulations surrounding boating safety and pollution responsibilities. Boaties can talk with representatives about community and industry needs in the area.
“With each year, the forum grows bigger, and this year my colleagues Shane King MP and Mark Ryan MP have come on board,” Chris Whiting said.
“It’s a great opportunity for local boaties to talk to government departments. It’s not often we have them all in one place,” Shane King said.
“With the construction of the pontoon down at the boat ramp, it will be great to hear directly from the Department on the progress,” Mark Ryan said.
Come along and enjoy a cuppa and a sandwich and have a chat about all things boating and fishing.
General Manager Jamie Lancaster said the club has paired up with local suppliers to provide a great opportunity to sample an array of different seafood including oysters, Moreton Bay bugs, salmon, barramundi, calamari, prawns, and sand crab.
“We are lucky enough to live in one of the best areas for access to fresh local seafood,” Mr Lancaster said.
“In conjunction with our suppliers, we’ll be showcasing a range of fresh and cooked options with a tasting card format to allow patrons to sample a variety of smaller items plus a free drink.
“One of the highlights will be from our friends at Bribie Oysters, who will be freshly shucking oysters at the time of purchase by patrons.
With a great selection of fresh seafood on offer, patrons are invited to take their taste buds on a tour alongside live entertainment in the fully air-conditioned Terrace at Caboolture Sports Club.
Tasting cards will be available for $25 each pre-purchased or $30 on the day, including five tasting items, plus a complimentary drink from the Terrace bar.

A new paint job, retiling and regrouting of the pools, new doors and windows were also included as part of the multi-million-dollar project to revamp the centre which receives more than 200,000 visitations every year.In-ground services including sewer and pool water reticulation have also been upgraded.
Dubbed the Burpengary Big Splash, there will be stacks of supervised activities for the kids including three giant inflatables — a slip-n-slide, jumping castle and super slide.
And if that’s not enough to keep the kids busy, there will also be an inflatable soccer field and inflatable pool toys.
Parents can kick back on a pink flamingo and relax while their little ones compete in ice-cream eating competitions and more main-stream sports like tennis, AFL and football.
Entry to the Burpengary Big Splash is a gold coin donation which will go towards The Smith Family. Gates open for the Burpengary Big Splash at 9am on Saturday, 23 March 2019.
Councillor for Division 2 Peter Flannery said the event would celebrate the aquatic centre’s new lease on life.
“Save the date for the Burpengary Big Splash and make the most of the opportunity to get to know your new and improved aquatic centre,” Cr Flannery said.
Mayor Allan Sutherland said BRALC would become part of Moreton Bay Regional Council’s master-planned Moreton Bay Central Sports Complex.
“We are creating a world-class hub for sport right here in Moreton Bay which will drive economic growth for the region and encourage more participation in sport,” Mayor Sutherland said.

Moreton Bay Regional Council will conduct a hazard reduction burn on Thursday, July 26 at Nectar Way Park, Burpengary East, weather permitting.Motorists driving along the Bruce Highway near Burpengary East and residents in Burpengary East and surrounding areas may notice smoke during and after the burn.
People should keep away from the burn during and in the days following the event.
Asthmatics and people sensitive to smoke are advised to stay indoors and keep their windows and doors closed.
Motorists in the area should drive to the conditions. Pets and livestock should be secured, if necessary.
Council hazard reduction burn crews work closely with the Queensland Fire and Emergency Services to undertake planned burns.
